The power of attorney lets us act for you towards courts, authorities, insurers and the opposing party. It does not by itself create the mandate: that begins only once we have accepted your case and discussed the costs with you. Please send us the signed form only after we have spoken, or if you expressly wish to instruct us.
What goes in which field?
Only four places need completing. Everything else — the firm's stamp at the top left and the box at the top right — is handled by us.

- Two fields separated by a slash: your name on the left, the name of the opposing party on the right. If the opposing party is not yet known, leave the right-hand field empty.Example

- Confirms that we have informed you that the fees are calculated on the basis of the value in dispute. If that does not apply in your case, the box stays empty — as the footnote of the form provides.

- The day you sign. Deliberately not pre-filled: a built-in date would be wrong from the following day onwards.

Signing
A PDF form cannot capture a signature. Three ways work:
- 1Fill it in, print it, sign it and scan or photograph it again.
- 2Use “Fill & Sign” in Adobe Acrobat Reader to place a signature; on iPhone and iPad you can do this in the Files app using Markup.
- 3Bring it along completed and sign it at our office.

Do I have to complete the form before instructing you?
No. You can call us, write to us or book an appointment first. We only need the power of attorney once we start acting for you — but then promptly, because without it we cannot appear towards courts, authorities or insurers.
What do I enter if I do not yet know the opposing party?
Leave the right-hand field empty. In an advisory matter or a regulatory fine case there is often no named opposing party at all; this is not a problem and does not make the form ineffective.
Can I sign on my phone?
Not in the form field itself — a PDF form cannot hold a signature. On iPhone and iPad you can draw a signature into the PDF via Markup in the Files app, on Android via Adobe Acrobat Reader. The reliable route remains: print, sign, photograph.
Does this form cover all areas of law?
Yes. There is only this one version; it covers litigation, defence in criminal and regulatory fine matters, and out-of-court representation, for instance towards insurers after an accident.
