A traffic accident is a shocking experience. However, the first hours after the accident are crucial – both for your safety and for the later enforcement of your claims.
Immediate measures at the scene
- Secure the accident scene (warning triangle, high-visibility vest)
- Call emergency services (112) if anyone is injured
- Call the police (110) – recommended even for minor accidents
- Exchange contact details with all parties involved
- Take photos of vehicles, licence plates, the accident scene and damage
What to avoid
Do not make any admissions of guilt – not even verbally. What is said spontaneously ("That was my fault") can later be used against you legally.
Contact us
You should seek legal advice immediately after the accident. We will clarify: Who is liable? What claims do you have? How should you deal with the other party's insurer?
The lawyer's costs are normally borne by the liability insurer of the person who caused the accident – so you bear no financial risk.
